An Ontario, Canada toddler drowned in a backyard pool in Kitchener, Ontario, according to reports. The toddler, just short of his third birthday, drowned while supervision was close at hand, reports say. But authorities still have no idea how the scene unfolded. Few details were apparently available as investigators were still on-scene dealing with the boy's distraught relatives.
Although an autopsy is expected, investigators have suggested foul play is not a possibility, but the investigation will continue, regardless.
As summer approaches, young lives are put in peril as pools around the continent are uncovered and cleaned for the swim season. It takes just a few seconds for children - especially toddlers - to slip into the water, inhale and drown.
