Metronidazole Tablets Recalled by Teva Pharmaceuticals

Teva Pharmaceuticals has reportedly issued a recall on its Metronidazole, a drug proscribed for the treatment of asymptomatic trichomoniasis and other bacterial infections.

The drug is reportedly being recalled because the pills may be underweight and may not contain enough medicine to do the job they are designed to do. In addition, the shortage of active ingredient may actually escalate the infection, reports say.

Teva has issued the recall for around 75 bottles of Metronidazole Tablets USP, 250mg. Each bottle contains 250 tablets, and is from lot number 312566, with an expiration date of 05/2011. The tablets were shipped in May of 2009.

Although Teva has reportedly said it has not learned of any side effects associated with the underweight tablets, it is recalling the product due to general safety concerns. Reports say the recall notice has already been issued to wholesalers and retailers and are in the process of returning the underweight product. The general recall was aimed at consumers who may have this lot in their medicine cabinets.

  1. After an accident, the responsible party's insurance company may try to reduce the claim amount. Commonly, insurance adjusters are trained to get information from the injured to assist in reducing the claim. Though some insurers are less guilty of this practice than others, it is important to realize that insurance companies are profit-oriented corporations and reducing claims results in increased profits for shareholders. This can create a situation for the injured in which they are offered a settlement that does not truly reflect the damages suffered. If you accept this settlement, you lose the ability to get more money should your injuries require further medical treatments. It is critical that victims get legal assistance in any personal injury case, and The Doan Law Firm is prepared to fight relentlessly for your rights.
