Honolulu Surfer Narrowly Escapes Drowning in Surf

Beachgoers dragged a boogie boarder to safety in Honolulu last month, saving him from drowning when the unidentified youth got himself into trouble while on his board, reports say.

The youth was in the water in Hanapepe Place, off China Walls, a popular surf and boogie board location in Honolulu, Hawaii last month. When he got into trouble and lost his board, he floundered in the surf by himself when some swimmers on the beach noticed him.

Going to his rescue, several people assisted the exhausted youth back to the beach. A bystander called Emergency services and the man was treated on the scene and was revived. He was still transported to a local hospital for some cuts and scratches to his legs and back.

Thankfully, the Hawaiian swimmer ended up safe. Some rescues don’t have such a happy ending. In cases where the water injury leads to severe injury or death, victims’ families often have recourse.
