Austin Crash Kills Passenger and Injures Driver

An early-morning accident has left one man dead and another hospitalized in Central Austin.

Reports say an Austin patrol officer came upon the accident just after 2:15 a.m. Monday, finding a car that had crashed into a light pole on Riverside, near I-35.

Although both the driver of the car driver and its passenger were both taken to University Medical Center at Brackenridge, the passenger reportedly did not make it, and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Both men had suffered severe injuries to their lower bodies. The condition of the driver is unknown.

Although no charges are pending at this time, police are still investigating the crash.
