Fatal Construction Accident on Houston’s South Highway

Houston police are investigating a fatal construction accident that occurred at the South Highway, also known as State Highway 288 on April 22nd.

The victim, Manuel A. Seja, 47, of Houston, was working in front of a white International Cement truck, which was parked at a construction site at State Highway 288 and MacGregor. The truck, parked underneath the freeway alongside Brays Bayou, somehow jumped out of gear and it jerked forward and fatally struck him. Seja was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition, two other workers alongside Seja were also injured and transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. Both men suffered severe, but non life-threatening injuries. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in this incident. The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division and the Truck Enforcement Unit are both investigating the accident.
