Man Dies While Snorkeling

Waimanalo Bay Medical Examiners have identified a 35-year-old man who died in Saturday in Waimanalo Bay after struggling. The man, identified as Richard Matapua, of Waialua, drowned while snorkeling with his family.

An autopsy was planned to determine Matapua’s cause of death, but reports say he was snorkeling early last month and became unresponsive. He was fished out of the water, taken to a nearby hospital and did not recover, reports said.
